Wuthering Waves entered the second half of its 1.2 update recently, which also came with the release of Xiangli Yao. Xiangli Yao is a limited five-star Electro Resonator that uses Gauntlets. In this update, players are able to obtain Xiangli Yao for free after reaching Popularity 6000 in the By Moon’s Grace Event and claiming him via Converging Paths.
New players will also need to reach Union Level 17 and complete the Main Quest Chapter One Act Three Ominous Star to obtain Xiangli Yao. For new players, reaching Union Level 17 would be easy enough as the Main Quests, finding chests, and basics of playing the game all provide the experience necessary to level up to Union Level 17. In addition, Wuthering Waves has a skip feature that allows players to skip through various quests. This will allow new players to reach the required Main Quest and Union Level faster to gain Xiangli Yao.

Additionally, for a free character, Xiangli Yao is an incredibly powerful unit. At the moment, he is considered to be an SS tier character by players. As long as players utilize him properly, he can deal major damage. Not only is Xiangli Yao a powerful damage dealer, but he can also slow down enemy movement.
As Xiangli Yao is a free unit, that also means that players can use any wishes they would’ve gained throughout the event or saved beforehand to get his signature weapon. As any five-star gained while wishing on the weapon banner is guaranteed to be the banner weapon, players can receive both Xiangli Yao and his weapon with only 80 summons. This is only because Xiangli Yao is a free character, but he will not continue to be free after the 1.2 update.

Now is the time to start playing Wuthering Waves, or return to the game, as the rewards for this update are extremely generous. In addition to the rewards from the events, and the free five-star Resonator, there is also a seven day log-in reward that ends September 28th that provides a total of 5 Lustrous Tides and 5 Radiant Tides. Lustrous Tides can be used on the permanent banner and Radiant Tides can be used on the limited character banner.
