Couch co-op is back and bigger than ever, and the developers behind Sol Mates is bringing a fun, chaotic experience to PAX East.
Here is the quick and dirty: Sol Mates is a co-op adventure game set in space. Your team is tasked with surviving while by performing various jobs. It is rogue-like in structure with various upgrades that are different each time and boosts replay value. Release date is TBD.

During my time at PAX, I played the demo for Sol Mates with three other people, including my content creator friend, Dan. After a brief introduction to the controls, we kicked off our space adventure. The four of us ran in circles, recharging batteries, refilling ammo, shooting enemies, directing the shield, and steering the ship. After surviving the first assault, we docked at a station to purchase some power ups. Afterward, we voted on the next level, and we regrettably selected black hole. We didn’t survive long.

As the title of the article suggests, there are inspirational elements from FTL and had the same chaotic feel of Overcooked. The graphics and your astronauts are absolutely adorable.
After playing the demo, I got to chat with programmers, Loren Weng (CEO) and Simon Armstrong (CTO). They were coworkers for a long time, then took the plunge to make Sol Mates. They explained how they wanted to bring people back together after the pandemic. Although there is a prevalence of sci-fi/spaceship trope in cinema, there isn’t as much in multi-player games. They aimed for a game night format as well, and they currently have about four to five missions that vary in length.
If you’re looking for a fun game to bring your friends together, keep an eye on Sol Mates. Stay tuned with Boss Rush for updates on its release. Until then, be sure to wish list them on Steam and check out the trailer below:
