In today’s Indie World Showcase and Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, the release of Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land was announced.
Koei Tecmo and Gust predict to release the game in early 2025. It will be available on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, XBOX, and on Steam.
This game will be the newest part of the Atelier series. This series focuses on alchemy and synthesization to create a unique and colorful world.
The story appears to follow Yumia, a young woman who seems to have experienced a tragic event when young that shaped her into the person she is in the story. She appears to hold animosity towards a scaled figure standing in the burning ruins of a town.
The beginning of the trailer has seemingly three different narrators setting up the world. The first appears to be a left-behind message, likely for the protagonist Yumia. The second establishes more about the journey or lesson Yumia will encounter in this story, talking about memories forming the way all livings are and live. The third voice speaks more about the ways of the world, considering there is more than one sort of truth or “right” in the world.
These elements build into a rather compelling introduction to the game’s story. Who leaves behind the message and for what reason? What sort of lesson will players guide Yumia to in this story? What truth or right will Yumia discover?
Do these questions make you want to play the game when it releases? Have you played any of the other Atelier games? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below or in our Boss Rush Discord!
