The demo for Monochrome Heights is now publicly available! It may have taken a little longer than I initially planned, but that doesn’t matter. I’m so happy and grateful to be able to share this demo with you.
Initially I intended to release it at the beginning of March, but I fell behind schedule. I didn’t slack off or needlessly delay. Some tasks just took longer than I had estimated. Nonetheless, I’m optimistic because the game has come farther along, in some ways more than I might have hoped for.

When I began focusing on building a demo for public release at the beginning of February, I forced myself to work on a couple of systems that I had been putting off dealing with: the game’s save system and controls remapping. Two things I hadn’t done before. Tackling them head-on at the start ended up being crucial.

Along the way, I decided to include extra details and a bit more polish, as well as updated art. Tyson Pease, artist, has been working on character portraits. Waiting for those to be finished gave me the chance to update a few animations to match, incorporate more sound effects, add a loading screen, upgrade the UI, etc. While there’s plenty more polish and details planned for the full game, I’m really pleased with how things turned out.

Now that the demo is available, I’m directing my efforts towards finishing the game– building the remaining levels and fleshing out the story segments, fixing any bugs or issues found in the demo, and polishing as much as possible.
Until then, please enjoy the demo and don’t forget to wishlist the game on Steam!
